Your Profile

ORCHID IDs are described as similar to a social security number for your scholarship. They are permanent identifiers for researchers.

If you share a name with another author or even a similar name, there is the potential for confusion and mistaken identities. A name change during your career can mean other people missing your publications. The ORCID ID is intended to protect your unique scholarly identity and help you keep your publication record accurate and up-to-date.

If you write and research in other disciplines, having an ORCID ID can bring non-law publications into your profiles. HeinOnline has begun developing workflows that will pull your multidisciplinary publications in to Hein.

Create ORCID Account

  1. Go to ORCID.org/register and sign up for an ORCID account.
  2. You will be asked for very basic information like name and email address
    1. Select a visibility setting. There are three: everyone, trusted parties, or only me.
