Complimentary Copies Information

  • American Bar Association 

    • Examination copies are provided in pdf, free of charge, and in print with a 30% discount. The print copy charge is refunded if the text is adopted, within six months, for a course. 

    • Desk copies are complimentary when a text has been adopted for a course. 

    • It is best to contact the ABA by calling them at 800.285.2221. Once the request has been approved, a complimentary order will be processed and shipped directly to the professor. You should receive email notification of the approval and order confirmation. 

  • Aspen Publishing Co. (CHH/Wolters Kluwer) 

    • Search or browse for the book you are interested in. You can search by ISBN, author, title, or keyword. Once on the product page, click the “professor Review” button and fill out the form. 

  • Bloomberg Publishing 

    • Examination copies are provided with a 25% discount. 

    • Desk copies are provided, complimentary, if the text is adopted for a course and a firm order has been placed. 

  • Brill Academic 

    • Examination copies are provided with a 25% discount. 

    • Desk copies are provided, complimentary, if the text is adopted for a course and a firm order has been placed. 

  • Carolina Academic Press 

    • Complimentary copies are provided to faculty, for adoption consideration, who have never previously received copies. 

  • Cambridge University Press 

    • “Professors are welcome to request free Examination copies of our textbooks provided they are to be considered for courses in which they would be adopted for student purchase. All our textbooks have a 'Request Examination copy' button. Books without a 'request an Examination copy' link are not generally available to order.” 

  • Harvard University Press
    • “If a Harvard University Press title is adopted as a text for a specific course and an order has been placed with your college bookstore for a minimum of 10 copies, we will, upon request, provide one 'desk copy' at no additional charge.” 
  • LexisNexis 

    • Review copies are provided in electronic format (via eBook or via access to the Digitial Library for Professor Review Copies). 

  • New York University Press 

    • NYU Press is pleased to offer complimentary desk and examination copies to qualified educators. For US customers only: To request a desk copy or exam copy, please locate the page for the title you are interested in receiving and click on the “Request Exam or Desk Copy” link. This link will bring you to a form that you will need to fill out to submit a formal request.  

    • Please note that there is a limit of three titles or fewer per person per school year. 

  • Oxford University Press 

    • "Oxford University Press is pleased to offer complimentary desk and examination copies to qualified instructors.  In order for your request to be processed, please browse our catalog for the desired text and follow the link to request an examination copy." 

  • Routledge Publishers (Ashgate) 

    • "Simply search for the book you're interested in on our website, then click on the Request Inspection Copy link on that book's page to make your request. You will be asked to provide some basic information about yourself and the course you are teaching. Depending on the textbook, the title you're interested in may be available in print, e-Inspection, or both. If you decide to adopt any of our titles you've reviewed in e-Inspection as the core text for your course, you may be eligible for a desk copy to support your teaching." 

  • Rowman Littlefield Publishing Group 

    • "We offer examination copies of our textbooks. Many of our titles are available as free examination copies or as e-exams. For titles that are not earmarked as a free exam, we will give careful consideration to each request. " 

  • Springer Publishing 

    • Examination/desk copies are offered in print or eBook format. Search the publisher's catalog and click on "request desk copy." 

  • Thomson Reuters (Aspatore Books, Warren, Gotham and Lamont) 

    • "Complimentary copies of texts are (typically) available to professors who wish to consider adopting them or recommending them to their classes, if they have not received previous copies." 

  • University of Chicago Press 

    • An examination copy is available for any book that is being considered for course use at a 20% discount.  The invoiced cost will be cancelled if the book is adopted for the course.   

    • A desk copy is available for any book that has been adopted for a course and the university text bookstore has ordered ten copies. 

  • WestAcademic (Foundation Press) 

    • "Complimentary review copies of texts are available to professors who wish to consider adopting them or recommending them to their classes, provided they have not received previous copies of the same title." 

  • Wiley Publishing 

    • Ninety-day evaluation copies are provided and invoiced. The invoice will be cancelled if the book is returned, or notice provided that at least ten copies of the book are ordered. 

  • William H. Hein & Co. Publishing 

    • "We provide review copies of Hein publications to professors who are currently teaching or preparing to teach a course where the book is being considered for adoption, or to organizations that publish book reviews. Our primary format for reviewing books is via Hein’s Online Legal Bookstore which includes our most popular classroom texts, casebooks, general student books, and legal research and writing books. We will provide 30-day free access to the online legal bookstore where you can review the titles digitally." 

  • Wolters Kluwer (CHH, Aspen Publishing) 

    • Search or browse for the book you are interested in. You can search by ISBN, author, title, or keyword. Once on the product page, click the Professor Review Copy button and fill out the form. 

  • Yale University Press 

    • E-Exam copy: Eligible titles feature a request button on the book’s page. If this is your first request, you will be prompted to set up a VitalSource account. Once your request has been submitted and approved, you will receive a link for accessing the text online. 

    • To request a print exam/desk copy: Eligible titles feature a request button on the book's page. Complete the request form to submit your request. You must have an instructor account to make a request. If you do not have an instructor account, you will be prompted to create one.
