Sarah Gerwig-Moore serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law. She joined the Mercer University School of Law faculty in 2006 and created the nationally-recognized Habeas Project, for which she received the Shanara Gilbert Emerging Clinician Award from the AALS Clinical Legal Education Section. She is a McDonald Distinguished Fellow with Emory University’s Center for the Study of Law and Religion, and is frequently speaks on and writes about topics related to criminal law, mass incarceration, public service, and legal education. Her textbook, What Brings You Here Today? An Introduction to Client Counseling, is scheduled for publication in spring 2020.

Beyond her teaching and scholarship, Dean Gerwig-Moore is engaged with a number of local and statewide nonprofit organizations, including the Georgia Resource Center, the Georgia Innocence Project, and the Altamaha Riverkeeper. Dean Gerwig-Moore received her BA, summa cum laude, from Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts; her JD from Emory Law School; and her Master of Theological Studies from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, where she studied with Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
